Higginbotham to be inducted at alma mater

TIFFIN, Ohio -- Julius Higginbotham, head coach of Kenyon College's track and field programs, will be inducted into the Heidelberg University Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m.

Higginbotham, a 2010 graduate of Heidelberg, has coached both the Kenyon men's and women's teams since the 2021-22 academic year.  

During his career as a student-athlete, Higginbotham won 11 career Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) titles in events including the long jump, 55-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay, and the 4x200-meter relay. In 2009, he was named The OAC's Most Outstanding Track Athlete and was also a two-time recipient of the OAC's Most Outstanding Field Athlete. He was an NCAA national qualifier for the long jump and 55-meter dash and a two-time All-American in the long jump, earning both indoor and outdoor honors during the 2010 season. Additionally, Higginbotham set Heidelberg records in the indoor 55-meter dash and the outdoor 4x100-meter relay.

"I could not have achieved this honor by myself," Higginbotham said. "It takes a village. I was coached by some of the greatest coaches in the sport and had the best teammates to grind with. I believed in myself, coaches, and teammates."
