SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's track and field team opened postseason competition Friday at the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
Day one, highlighted primarily by preliminary events, featured three final field events and two final running events for the Owls.
The action began in the women's long jump, where senior
Sadie Olson recorded a mark of 4.39 meters to place 21st overall. In the women's weight throw, first-year
Kenna Kinsch delivered an impressive performance, earning a podium finish with a career-best toss of 11.88 meters. Her third-place mark surpassed her previous personal record of 11.79 meters and gave Kenyon an early boost in the team standings.
On the track, the Owls were represented in the women's 5,000-meter run. Junior
Olivia Ide paced Kenyon with a 15th-place finish in 19:01.76, while sophomore
Lucie Prior followed in 18th place, crossing the line in 19:14.98 in a field of 21 competitors.
The day concluded with the 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of
Turner Clark,
Claire Pruner,
Caeleigh Stamper and
Addilyn Tober, which placed seventh out of eight teams. The quartet finished in 13:38.92 to secure two team points.
After the first day, the Owls sit in sixth with a total of five points.
Kenyon will return to action Saturday, with field events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. as the NCAC Indoor Championship continues.
