Gray earns NCAC’s weekly honor

CLEVELAND -- Tuesday, the North Coast Athletic Conference released its list of weekly award winners and the choice for men's golf Athlete of the Week went to Kenyon College sophomore Connor Gray.

Gray was the Owls best golfer at the two-day, three-round Savannah Invitational, held at the par-72 Club at Savannah Harbor. The Invitational featured a field loaded with nationally-ranked teams. Gray's efforts lifted the Owls, ranked No. 18 at the time, to a 13th place team finish in the field of 20 NCAA Division III squads.

Gray, who now leads the Kenyon team in scoring average, posted a final total of 222, which was six-over par for the three rounds of play. He remained consistent throughout the tournament, posting 18-hole scores of 73 and 74 in Monday's first two rounds, and then a 75 in Tuesday's third and final round. His final stroke count put him in a tie for 39th place on the individual leaderboard, which consisted of 100 golfers.
