Women's Golf - Port City 2026

Owls log program’s first-ever tournament win

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- In just their sixth tournament of their inaugural season, Kenyon College women golfers registered the first victory in program history, taking first place among 16 teams at the Port City Classic, a two-round event held at Savannah Country Club.

The Owls posted a season-best team score of 308 in round one and then followed with a 323 in round two for a final total of 631 strokes. Rhodes College finished second with a final tally of 635, while No. 32-ranked Oglethorpe University sent its 'B' team, which claimed third place with 640 strokes.

Kenyon's one-two punch of first-years Rafa Plasa and Sasha Belova led the way for the Kenyon team. Plasa recorded three birdies throughout the tournament, fired a three-over-par 74 on Monday and then a seven-over 78 on Tuesday. Belova, who also carded three birdies, completed the first round with a score of 77 and followed up with a 78. Plasa's final total of 152 put her in an individual finish for fourth place, while Belova's 155 put her in a tie for fifth place in the field of 91 golfers.

The Owls' two other golfers who posted countable scores were Camryn Nelson and Jane Fanning, also both first-year members of the team. Nelson grabbed a share of ninth place with a total of 160 on rounds of 78 and 82. Fanning landed in 22nd place with a score of 164. Her first round was a 79 and her second was an 85.

The win puts a cap on the spring-break swing for the Owls, who will return to campus and begin preparations for their next tournament, Marietta College's Pioneer Classic, which gets underway on Saturday, March 21.
