Owls end Florida trip with win over Vassar

ORLANDO, Fla. -- On the final day of its spring break schedule, the Kenyon College men's tennis team got one match in and had to postpone another. The Owls started Thursday out with a 4-0 win over Vassar College. Following that, they started a match with Skidmore College, only to have it halted by rain.

Against Vassar, the No. 13- ranked Owls put together a quick win. They earned the doubles team point by winning all three matches. Juozas Cioladis and Maximo Llamas Castellanos paired up for a 6-3 win at No.1. Jay Kedar Dixit and Paulo Pocasangre Kreling took the No. 2 match, 6-4, while Alejandro Gonzalez and Eliezer Gonzalez won at No. 3 by a 6-2 count.

That left the Owls needing to win just three of the six singles matches to claim the overall team win. Alejandro Gonzalez, playing at No. 1 singles, got the first of those wins, defeating Vassar's Eugene Lee, 6-1, 6-3. Then, at No. 4 singles, Cioladis beat Junchen Jia 6-2, 6-4. Finally, putting the match away, Rohan Sriram rang up a 6-3, 6-1 win against Jonas Santos in the No. 5 spot in the lineup.

The Owls, who will attempt to reschedule the match against Skidmore, will return to campus with a 12-1 record.
