CLEVELAND – The North Coast Athletic Conference announced its Athletes of the Week for March 24, with Kenyon College sophomore Juozas Cioladis earning Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors after helping power the Owls to a perfect 3-0 week against nationally ranked competition.
Cioladis continued his dominant sophomore campaign with another strong showing in singles play, competing at the No. 4 spot for the Owls. Against No. 38 Grinnell College, the sophomore secured a straight-set victory, 6-2, 6-3, helping Kenyon to a 5-2 team win.
He followed that performance with a win against No. 20 University of Mary Washington, taking the match 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) to help lift the Owls to a tightly contested 4-3 victory.
Cioladis closed the weekend with another key point against No. 23 Christopher Newport University, grinding out a three-set victory, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, as Kenyon secured a 5-2 team win.
With the trio of victories, Cioladis remains perfect in singles play this season at 15-0. He has also been dominant in doubles alongside Maximo Llamas Castellanos, as the pair opened the week with a 7-5 victory over No. 38 Grinnell College before following it with another 7-5 win against No. 20 University of Mary Washington. They capped the weekend with a 6-2 triumph over No. 23 Christopher Newport University, extending their perfect record to 18-0 as a tandem this season.
