Owls soar to victory at Steven Tyler Invitational

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kenyon College women's golf team continued its impressive season Monday afternoon, claiming first place at the Steven Tyler Memorial Invitational hosted by Kalamazoo College. Competing in a six-team field, the Owls carded a team score of 311 (+23) to finish comfortably ahead of the host Hornets. The victory marks the program's second first-place finish of its inaugural season.

Kalamazoo placed second with a team total of 332 (+44), while Spring Arbor University finished third at 349 (+61). Lourdes University followed in fourth with a score of 351 (+63), the University of Michigan-Dearborn took fifth with 367 (+79), and Cornerstone University rounded out the field with a score of 369 (+81).

Kenyon's success was fueled by another strong performance from its top duo of first-years Rafa Plasa and Sasha Belova. The pair each fired three-over-par rounds of 75, tying for second place individually, in a field of 34 golfers, and leading the Owls' scoring lineup on the day.

Jane Fanning also delivered a solid showing for Kenyon, finishing fourth overall after carding a seven-over-par 79 across the 18-hole event. Camryn Nelson rounded out the Owls' four counting scores, posting a 10-over-par 82 to secure a tie for sixth place in the individual standings.

Macy Printy added a round of 102 to finish tied for 28th, while Madeline Meimaridis recorded a score of 115 to place 33rd in the field.

Up next, the Owls travel to Wooster, Ohio, to compete in the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational, hosted by The College of Wooster at Wooster Country Club. The first round is scheduled for Sunday, April 19.
