GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's track and field team closed out its regular season Friday evening at the Denison University Big Red Invitational, competing in a limited slate of events but making the most of the opportunity with several strong individual performances.
Sophomore
Cassidy Kaler headlined the evening on the track, racing to a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. Kaler crossed the line in 11:46.99, securing her first career individual victory and pacing a small but competitive field. Her performance stood as Kenyon's lone event title of the meet and provided a strong closing statement heading into championship season.
In the field events, sophomore
Penelope Artemis turned in a pair of top-four finishes. She opened the meet in the hammer throw, launching a mark of 42.04 meters (137-11) to claim third place among 12 competitors. Artemis followed that effort in the shot put, where she recorded a throw of 11.26 meters (36-11.5) to place fourth in a deep field.
Up next, the Owls set their sights on the crown jewel of the season, the NCAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Kenyon on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2.
