Kenyon women eager to host NCAC Championship

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College women's track and field team recently wrapped up its regular-season schedule and now looks forward to hosting the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The two-day meet will be held Friday and Saturday at Wilder Track.

On Friday, running events start at 9:00 a.m. and field events will start at noon. On Saturday, field events start at 10:00 a.m. and running events start at 2:30 p.m.

As mandated by the conference office, ticket prices for one-day admission will be $6 for adults, $4 for children (18 and under) and students without an NCAC institution ID. Students with an NCAC institution ID will be admitted free of charge.

One year ago, the Kenyon women placed fifth at the NCAC Championship, which was the team's best result since the 2018 campaign. Two months ago, at the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championship, the Owls claimed a sixth-place finish.

According to the NCAC's coaches' pre-championship poll, the Owls are predicted to finish sixth this year. Ohio Wesleyan University was selected to finish first. Defending conference champion, DePauw University, was picked to finish second, and John Carroll University was picked to finish third.

Kenyon has two defending event champions on its roster. Senior Anna Brown was the NCAC champion in the 800-meter run, taking the outdoor title in 2025 and the indoor title earlier this season. Additionally, sophomore Ari Sobel will compete as the conference's defending outdoor champion in the 400-meter run.

Brown and Sobel have also been key pieces of Kenyon relays, with both the 4x200-meter and the 4x400-meter squads setting new program records this season. This season also saw Sobel set the program record in the 400-meter and Brown set the program record in the mile.

Noa Helmbrecht and Addilyn Tober, both sophomores, were also part of those record-setting relays. On their own, Helmbrecht will provide a boost for the Owls in sprints and Tober will be the top option in hurdles.

In field events, another sophomore, Penelope Artemis, should make an impact on the Kenyon team score. She'll be looking to improve on her top-five finishes in the shot put and the hammer throw from one season ago.

Other possible point-scorers for Kenyon could be junior Olivia Ide in distance events and sophomore Lucie Prior in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
