GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's track and field team opened competition at the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, competing on their home surface and turning in a series of solid efforts across both field and distance events.
Day one began in the field, where junior
Sadie Olson represented the Owls in the long jump. Olsen recorded a leap of 4.23 meters (13-10.5), placing 17th in a competitive field.
In the javelin, first-year
Emma Dowling made her postseason debut and delivered her best throw of the season. The rookie launched a mark of 18.25 meters (59-10), earning a 19th-place finish.
Dowling returned for the discus, where she led KC's efforts in flight one. She placed fourth with a throw of 22.85 meters (74-11), while classmate
Kenna Kinsch followed closely behind, taking sixth with a mark of 30.47 meters (103-7).
On the track, junior
Olivia Ide took on the 10,000-meter run, the first distance event of the championship weekend. Competing in a field of 18 runners, Ide crossed the finish line in 39:08.97 to secure a 12th-place finish.
Closing out the evening for the Owls was
Lucie Prior in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The sophomore turned in a time of 12:12.75, finishing 11th and coming within seconds of her personal-best mark of 12:08.54.
With day one in the books, the Owls will return to action tomorrow, May 2
nd, for the final day of the NCAC Outdoor Championships. Field events are set to begin at 10:00 a.m., with the triple jump first on the schedule.
