ALLIANCE, Ohio – One final throw proved to be a historic one for Kenyon College sophomore
Graham Yeager on Thursday afternoon at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet hosted by the University of Mount Union.
With NCAA qualifying hopes hanging in the balance, Yeager uncorked a career-defining toss in the discus, launching a mark of 47.08 meters (154-5) to finish fourth in a field of 15 throwers. More importantly, the throw etched his name into the Kenyon record books.
The sophomore shattered his previous personal-best mark of 45.05 meters, set earlier this season during the April 3-4 weekend at the Wooster Invitational, and pushed past a program record that had stood untouched since 2018. The previous Kenyon standard belonged to Jordan Potter, who threw 46.31 meters (151-11) on May 5, 2018. Yeager surpassed that mark by more than two feet in what became the top discus throw in program history.
Now, the waiting game begins as Yeager looks toward the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship selections to see if his record-breaking effort earned him a spot among the nation's top competitors.
