Kenyon men claim sixth at NCAC Championship

GAMBIER, Ohio -- With a two-day total of 59.5 points, the Kenyon College Owls landed in sixth place in the final standings of the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, held Friday and Saturday at Kenyon's Wilder Track.

Kenyon got six points from Josh Greville, who took third place in the decathlon last week. Then, on Friday, the Owls logged 31 one more points to push their total to 37. Saturday, 22.5 more points were earned to bring Kenyon's final total to 59.5.

John Carroll University, new to the NCAC this year, won the conference crown with 163.5 points. Wittenberg University was second with 156 points and Wabash College rounded out the top three in the nine-team field with 145.5 points.


Saturday's most productive event for Kenyon was the 5,000-meter run. Seniors Colt Murphy and Owen Rodstrom, as well as sophomore Charlie Blackmer, combined to generate 10 team points. Murphy led the way with a fourth-place finish in a personal best time of 14:59.81. Blackmer took sixth in 15:04.05 and Rodstrom, winner of yesterday's 3,000-meter steeplechase, placed seventh with a time of 15:09.47, which was also a personal best.


Earlier in the meet, Blackmer scored the team's best individual finish by taking the third-place spot in the 1,500-meter race. He clocked at 3:59.87 and tacked six points to the Owls' tally.


The rest of Kenyon's championship points came from its relay teams. The Owls took sixth place in the 4x400-meter and eighth place in the 4x100-meter. The 400 team of Julius Thompson, Kudzaishe Mhere, Marius Mazeika, and Greville clocked in at 3:21.59 and the 100 team of Thompson, Satchel Barnes, Jordon Benjamin, and Mhere stopped the clock at 42.64.
