Kenyon rises to second in national coaches' poll

NORMAN, Okla. – With a dominant start to the fall season, the Kenyon College men's golf team finished with a No. 2 ranking in the Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Coaches' Poll for September 25, 2026. 

The poll was led by Huntingdon College (394 points) after wins at both the Gate City Invitational and the NCAA DIII Fall Preview at Kingsmill Resort. The Owls followed with 361 points to claim second place after they finished behind Huntingdon in both those same tournaments. The Owls claimed victory over a total of 22 ranked squads through the tournaments. 

First year Alex Harwood was dominant in his collegiate debut finishing in tied for 11th at Gate City. Rafael Frias IV was the second finisher for the Owls at the Gate City Invite, finishing tied for 14th with a score of 65 in round three. 

Connor Gray stole the show early at the NCAA DIII Fall Preview, posting back-to-back 67s to finish tied for seventh at Kingsmill. Jaiden Koonar followed up his teammate in round three posting a 67 of his own to finish tied for 12th. A strong effort from Harwood, Frias IV and Adrian Jordan gave the Owls a program-record score of 836 (-16) through 54 holes, crushing their previous record of 845 set at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship in the 2023-24 season.

Rounding out the top five in the poll were Emory University (353 votes), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (343 votes), and Illinois Wesleyan University (341 votes). 

The Owls next event is the Wabash College Invitational, which will begin Monday at Broadmoor Country Club.
