DELAWARE, Ohio – The Kenyon College Ladies spent more than half of Thursday's field hockey game building a 2-1 lead over Ohio Wesleyan University. That work was ruined, however, when Montana Knapp rattled off three straight second-half goals and lifted the host Battling Bishops to a 4-2 win.

The final result evened the season series between the two teams. Kenyon, now 7-6 overall and 6-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, defeated Ohio Wesleyan, 3-1, earlier in the season. Ohio Wesleyan, which snapped a brief two-game skid, improved to 7-6 overall and 6-5 in NCAC action.

Before Knapp went on her tear, the Ladies opened scoring early in the game. In fact, with their fourth shot of the game, the Ladies jumped ahead 1-0. The goal came from sophomore Rachel Hall,  who delivered a penalty corner, jumped back into action to receive a pass from freshman Maddie Breschi, and scored.

About 13 minutes after Hall's goal, the Battling Bishops returned fire. Allison Smith collected a loose ball in front of the Kenyon cage and tied things up at 1-1, which was the way it remained throughout the rest of the first half.

Five minutes into the second half, Kenyon sophomore Sammy Johnston, scored off an assist from classmate Julie FreedmanThat Kenyon goal also developed off a penalty corner.

At the game's 47:09 mark, Knapp registered her first goal. She added the game-winner at 57:58 and then tacked on an insurance goal with a little more than five minutes left in the game.

Kenyon will try to get back on track Saturday, when it returns home to host Wittenberg University at noon.
