MEADVILLE, Pa. (April 28, 2012) In what amounted to a play-in game for the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference tournament, Allegheny College broke the collective heart of the Kenyon College women's lacrosse team late in regulation Saturday. The Gators scored with 18 seconds left to notch an 11-10 win over the Ladies and claim the fourth and final spot in the conference playoffs.
Allegheny's Kiah Voyer-Colbath owned the final 15 minutes of the contest. With her Gators trailing, 9-7, Voyer-Colbath scored three times over a seven-minute span. Sophomore
Alex Bair buried a free-position shot in the back of the cage at the 6:27 mark to tie the game, 10-10.
The teams remained even for six minutes, but Voyer-Colbath struck for the fifth time when the Ladies were less than 20 seconds from sending the game and their season to overtime. At that point, Kenyon (7-8 overall) simply didn't have enough time to answer Voyer-Colbath's game winning goal.
The outcome left Allegheny (9-8 overall) and the Ladies in a fourth-place tie with identical 2-4 conference records. The head-to-head victory was the difference-maker that sent the Gators on to next weekend's NCAC tournament.

Emily Nichols scored two of her three goals before halftime to help Kenyon to a 6-5 lead at the break. With the three scores, Nichols moved into sole possession of fifth place in the Ladies' career record book with 132 goals. She also added an assist for a four-point performance.
