SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Don't tell the Kenyon College field hockey team that it is young and inexperienced. And don't tell it that it's in the middle of a transition under a first-time head coach. Those factors have done absolutely nothing to slow down the offensive production of the Ladies, who put up another big number Thursday night in a 4-2 conference win over the Wittenberg University Tigers.

The Ladies' total of four goals gives them nine in their last two games and a dozen in their last three. The Tigers saw firsthand what the Ladies offense can bring. While doubling-up Wittenberg on the scoreboard, Kenyon built convincing advantages in shots (26-9) and penalty corners (19-6).

Four different players scored for the Ladies. Sophomore Sammy Johnston was first and classmate Rachel Hall was next. Johnston's goal, the only one scored in the first half, was her first of the season, while Hall's goal, which was set up on a pass from senior Leah Jacques, was her third of the season.

Wittenberg (1-5, 1-3 NCAC) scored its first goal about 40 minutes into the game, but Kenyon answered with two more. This time it was the combo of sophomore Julie Freedman and freshman Christine Bloom that put the other half of Kenyon's goals on the board. With that outburst, Freedman, Bloom, and Hall now share the team lead with three goals each so far this season.

Kenyon (2-2, 2-0 NCAC), which has played all of its games on the road thus far, finally gets its first home game of the season. That contest will be at 2:30 pm Sunday against the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops.
