OBERLIN, Ohio – The Kenyon College field hockey team recorded a 3-1 North Coast Athletic Conference victory Saturday at Oberlin College. The win was the fifth straight for the Ladies, who have put together the program's longest winning streak since the 2006 campaign.

Kenyon (5-2, 5-0 NCAC) remains tied atop the conference standings with DePauw University (7-1, 5-0 NCAC), which pulled out a 1-0 overtime win against Denison University on Saturday afternoon.

The Ladies attacked early against Oberlin (2-4, 1-4 NCAC), outshooting the Yeowomen 7-2 over the course of the first 35 minutes of play. The show of force only generated one goal, though. Just about midway through that first half, freshman Christine Bloom tallied the game's first point off a shot from the left side.

That goal held up until early in the second half when Oberlin netted the equalizer. The game did not remain tied for long. Fifty seconds after that Oberlin goal, Kenyon freshman Maddie Breschi scored for the Ladies. The goal, which turned out to be the game-winner, was Breschi's third of the season. It also marked her third straight game with a goal and her fifth straight game with at least one point (goal or assist).

For good measure, Kenyon sophomore Rachel Hall fired in another goal roughly two minutes after Breschi's. The goal was Hall's fourth of the season, putting her in a tie with Bloom and Julie Freedman for the team lead.

In front of the cage, junior Sydney Carney-Knisely made six saves for the Ladies and watched her season goals against average dip to 1.29.

Kenyon gets a break from conference action, but will return to the field Sunday for a 1 p.m. home game against Bethany College.
