GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College field hockey team made quick work of the upstart Bethany College Bison in Sunday's non-conference contest at McBride Field. Sophomore
Cecilia Depman poured in three goals for the Ladies and steered her squad to a 5-1 victory.
The win was the Ladies' sixth in a row and boosted the team's overall record to 6-2. The loss dropped Bethany to 1-6.
Depman scored the game's first goal at the 22:36 mark and then scored again just before the half. In between her two scores, freshman
Christine Bloom found the back of the Bethany cage, helping push Kenyon to a 3-0 lead after the first half.
In the second half, Bloom assisted
Rachel Hall to give Kenyon a 4-0 lead and then Hall assisted Depman on the Ladies' final tally of the day. Bloom and Hall now both lead the team with five goals apiece this season. Depman's trio of goals improved her season total to four.
Kenyon outshot Bethany, 65-4, giving goalkeeper
Sydney Carney-Knisely an easy afternoon. She did, however, make two saves and lost her shutout when Bethany's Taylor Solomon stole the ball from the Kenyon defense and got loose on a breakaway.
Kenyon will look to extend its streak to seven games when it heads to the College of Wooster for a conference game Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
