DELAWARE, Ohio – For the first 50 minutes of Saturday's soccer game, the Kenyon College Lords' offense was held scoreless. Then, over the next 30 minutes of play, the Kenyon men erupted for four goals, erased a 2-0 deficit, and delivered a 4-2 defeat to the stunned Calvin College Knights.

The game was part of the two-day Fred Myers Invitational held at Ohio Wesleyan University and the victory evened out the Lords' record to 1-1. Calvin, a program that has two NCAA Championship runner-up finishes in the past four seasons, fell to 0-2 with the loss.

Calvin looked every bit the beast the Lords expected in the opening half. Junior forward Travis Vegter scored twice in the game's first 30 minutes and that lead stood firm through the intermission.

Kenyon, which had eight shots (three on goal) in the first half, peppered the Knights with a dozen more shots in the second half. The first of those second-half shots to find the Calvin net came off the foot of sophomore midfielder Jeremiah Barnes. Barnes' tally cut the deficit in half for Kenyon, but Josh Lee's first collegiate goal, which hit twine about nine minutes later, completely erased the Lords' deficit.

Senior midfielder Andrew Parmelee kept the Kenyon momentum going with another Lords' tally at the 67:43 mark of the game. Alex Christoff assisted on the goal, which Parmelee scored off a deflection. About 15 minutes after that, junior Rei Mitsuyama capped off the Kenyon rally. He collected a pass from classmate Nate Petrou and then launched his shot off the right post and into the goal.

Overall, Kenyon outshot Calvin, 20-10, and held a huge 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. At the conclusion of the Invitational, Lee, Parmelee, and Tony Amolo, were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Lords now have about a week off before traveling to Centre College on Friday to face Spalding University in a neutral-site game that gets underway at 5 p.m.
