Box Score
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Explosive and efficient, the Kenyon College Lords soccer team rattled off its fourth straight win with an impressive 6-0 Saturday night throttling of the College of Mount St. Joseph Lions. The win was the Lords' third shutout of the season and moved the team's record to 6-2-0, the best start to a season since the 2010 team went 6-1-1 in its first eight games.
Freshman
Jordan Glassman ignited the Lords' offense by scoring two goals within the game's first 17 minutes. His first goal, which crossed the goal line just four minutes from the opening kick, was set up by
Ben Alexander. His second goal, scored a little more than 12 minutes later, was set up by goalkeeper
Sam Clougher.
Josh Lee then netted his third goal of the season and
Alistair Flynn followed with his third, as well. That put Kenyon into the break with a comfortable 4-0 cushion. To that point, Kenyon took just ten shots. In the second half, the Lords had eight more shots, scored two more times, and concluded the game with a notable .333 shot percentage.
Kenyon freshman
Tony Amolo stepped to center stage in the second half. He tallied his team-leading fifth goal of the season and then assisted Flynn on his second and final goal of the game. Amolo not only leads the Lords in goals scored this season, but also in points with 12 registered in eight games played.
Clougher and
Corbin Stevens split time in front of the Kenyon net, but both goalkeepers went uncontested as Mount St. Joseph managed just one misguided shot.
The Lords will shoot for five in a row Tuesday, when they host Capital University at 4 p.m. The Crusaders, who tied The College of Wooster Saturday night, will bring a 3-1-3 record to Gambier.
