DANVILLE, Ky. – Facing a one-goal deficit twice during Sunday's neutral-site game, the Kenyon College field hockey team dialed up a couple of late tallies to pull out a 3-2 victory over the Sewanee Tigers. The game, for both teams, was the second of two played this weekend on the campus of Centre College.

Trailing 2-1 late in the second half, Kenyon junior Christine Bloom came up with the perfect time to notch her first goal of the season. Senior Julie Freedman set her up with the assist and Bloom banged in the equalizer with just 11:25 left in the game.

As the clock ticked through the final minutes, Kenyon's veteran presence continued to shine. Senior Cecilia Depman and junior Maddie Breschi connected for the game-winner. Breschi set up the play and Depman finished it off, giving the Ladies their first lead with just 2:30 left.

Earlier in the game, with Sewanee ahead, 1-0, Breschi tallied her first goal of the season off an assist from classmate Rachel Hall. The score remained knotted through halftime.

Despite playing from behind for most of the game, the Ladies' offense never lifted its foot off the gas pedal. The Kenyon women peppered the Sewanee cage with 42 shots. Quite a few were off the mark, but plenty of credit went to Gabrielle Fignar, the Sewanee goalkeeper who kept her team in the game by making 18 saves.

At the other end of the field, Sarah Speroff, Kenyon's freshman keeper, was not tested nearly as much as Fignar. Speroff saw a total of 12 shots and wound up making six saves.

The win puts Kenyon's record at 2-0 for the first time to start a season since 2005. The loss dropped Sewanee to 0-2.
