Kenyon senior Maddie Breschi was one of six goal-scorers during the Ladies' 7-2 win over
Earlham College. She also tacked on an assist and now has three goals and three assists in
the team's first six games.
GAMBIER, Ohio – Junior Maddie Breschi kick-started the Kenyon offense Sunday and the Ladies field hockey team rolled to a 7-2 victory over the visiting Earlham College Quakers. The win was Kenyon's 22nd straight over the Quakers, dating back to the 2003 season.

About six-and-a-half minutes into the contest, Breschi, scooped up a rebound off Earlham goalkeeper Brynna Foreman's pads. Breschi then worked around Foreman and recorded her third goal of the season. About seven minutes later, Breschi served up her third assist of the season. From the right side of the cage, she sent a pass along the goal line. Freshman Shannon Hart was there to meet the pass and directed it over the line.

Senior Rachel Hall then figured into the next two Kenyon tallies. Her shot from long range was tipped by an Earlham defender and sailed past Foreman for a 3-0 Kenyon lead. Less than three minutes later, Hall sent in a penalty corner that was handled by fellow senior Sammy Johnston. For the second day in a row, Johnston completed the connection with another goal. Yesterday, the same two players produced a penalty corner goal that propelled the Ladies to 2-1 win against No. 15-ranked DePauw University.

Kenyon freshman Katelyn Hutchinson added another score for the Ladies, but was followed up by an Earlham goal from Bailey Heinzen. That put the score at 5-1 heading into the break.

With a comfortable lead, Kenyon was able to rest some of its starters in the second half and give valuable playing time to reserves. Hutchinson took full advantage and scored her second goal of the game, while classmate Sarah Bauman rounded out the Ladies' scoring. The goals from Hart, Hutchinson, and Bauman were all the first of their collegiate careers.

The win moved Kenyon to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference action. It's the Ladies' best start to a season since the 2006 team began with a 7-1 mark.
