GAMBIER, Ohio – For the seventh time since 2008, the Kenyon College and Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer teams will collide in postseason play. Saturday, the teams renew their rivalry in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) tournament final, which will take place on Kenyon's Mavec Field beginning at 1 p.m. The winner of the game earns the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.

The same two teams met in each of the last two NCAC title tilts. In 2013, Ohio Wesleyan used home-field advantage to chalk up a 3-1 win over Kenyon. Last season, Kenyon returned to the Battling Bishops' home turf and won its first-ever NCAC tournament with a 2-1 overtime decision.

Overall, Kenyon possesses seven regular-season NCAC titles, including this season, and the one tournament title. Ohio Wesleyan has piled up 23 regular-season NCAC titles and nine tournament titles. The two teams most recently met October 28 in a contest that saw Kenyon take an early 1-0 lead and hang on for a 2-1 victory at Ohio Wesleyan.

This time around, Kenyon will have home-field advantage. The Lords are the NCAC tournament's No. 1-seeded team and they earned their spot in the final by virtue of Wednesday's 1-0 semifinal win against Oberlin College. The Lords enter Saturday's contest with a 16-1 record, a No. 1 national rank from D3soccer.com and a No. 8 rank in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Lords have won eight straight with their only loss of the season coming against DePauw University on October 3.

Ohio Wesleyan is the tournament's No. 2 seed and owner of a 15-3-2 record. The Battling Bishops claimed their position in the Saturday's title game by handing DePauw a 2-0 loss in the other NCAC semifinal. Ohio Wesleyan, which has played in the championship game 14 times in the 16-year history of the NCAC tournament, is ranked No. 17 nationally by D3soccer.com and was last ranked at No. 22 by the NSCAA prior to its loss to Kenyon.

The Lords enter the big game with a defense that allows averages of just 7.1 shots and 0.53 goals per game. The team's goals against average is tops in the conference and ranks 17th among all NCAA Division III teams. The backbone of the defense, junior goalkeeper Sam Clougher, has allowed just nine goals and has a .816 save percentage. He has ten shutouts this season and his last one (against Oberlin) gave him the Kenyon career record for shutouts (33).

On the opposite side of the field, the Kenyon offense produces averages of a 20.6 shots and 2.8 goals per game. Junior Tony Amolo is a threat to score at any time. He leads the Lords with 16 goals, 5 assists and 37 points. He ranks second in the nation with seven game-winning goals. Additional support comes from sophomore Woo Jeon and junior Jordan Glassman. Jeon has chalked up seven goals and three assists this season, while Glassman has contributed five goals and two assists.

The Ohio Wesleyan offense cranks out similar averages with 19.6 shots and 2.9 goals per game. The Battling Bishops look to senior forward Brian Schaefer for production and he's responded with team-highs of 15 goals, 8 assists and 38 points. Phoenix Neitzelt and Kyle Baum follow up with nine and six goals, respectively.

Defensively, the Battling Bishops allow averages of 11.1 shots and 0.85 goals per contest. Junior goalkeeper Ben Farynowski has played in 19 games, made 53 saves and has eight shutouts. He has a 0.69 goals against average and a .803 save percentage.

Live stats and live video will be provided for the tournament final. As mandated by the NCAC, ticket prices for the contest are $7 for adults and $3 for children (18 and under). Admission is free for any student enrolled at an NCAC institution who presents a valid school ID at the gate.
