DANVILLE, Ky. – Standout goalkeeper
Sarah Speroff became the Kenyon record-holder in shutouts on Friday morning as the Ladies dialed up a 2-0 season-opening win against Transylvania University. The contest was played on the campus of Centre College.
Speroff earned her 26th career shutout surpassing Karen Thompson '08.
The Ladies dominated the match out-shooting the Pioneers 23-2 while holding a 12-1 corner advantage.
Junior
Hannah Paterakis got the team's first goal of the season at the 13:45 mark in the opening half. After a corner from
Katelyn Hutchinson, Paterakis found the back of the pipe to break the scoreless tie.
Kenyon had a few more chances to extend its lead but a few saves from Transylvania goalie Allyson Benz kept the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Pioneers found their first and only pair of shot attempts from Zoe Jessie, but both went wide of the Kenyon goal.
Freshman
Molly Keen then helped the Ladies at 54:49 with the team's second score. Her corner came to Hutchinson who finished into the pipes and extended the lead to 2-0.
Next up for Kenyon is a noon start tomorrow against Centre. A year ago, the Colonels handed the Ladies a 7-1 loss.
Sarah Speroff recorded her 26th career shutout on Friday as the Ladies defeated
