GAMBIER, Ohio – On Saturday at 11 a.m., the No. 9-ranked (United Soccer Coaches) Kenyon College men's soccer team will welcome 20th-ranked Penn State University-Behrend to Mavec Field for a first round NCAA Tournament contest. It is the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Lords bring a 17-1-2 record into the match. They earned an automatic berth into the tournament after defeating Ohio Wesleyan University 2-1 last Saturday in the North Coast Athletic Conference tourney final. Coach
Chris Brown, in his 15th year, has led the Lords to the NCAAs eight times, including seven straight.

Kenyon's freshman and sophomore classes have played a major role during the season. That group has scored 42 of the team's 58 goals with newcomer
Atli Hrafnkelsson leading the way with nine. Sophomores
Scott Upton and
Sam Carson have each added seven for the 14th-ranked scoring offense (2.90). Additionally, the team's 2.30 assists per game average ranks 19th in Division III. Leading that front is
Sebastian Brylka (7) and
Gunner Found (5).

On the defensive end, the Lords have been solid. Their team goals against average mark (.73) ranks 34th and they have earned eight shutouts. Found,

Chayne Bruneau,
Sam Hosmer-Quint and goalie
Ian McInturf form the initial wave of back-line starters and the group has allowed 15 goals and given up a mere 3.8 shots on-goal per game to opponents.

The Lions enter Saturday's game with a 19-1 record and winners of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. PSU-Behrend is under the direction of Dan Perritano who has produced 22 winning seasons in 27 years.

Junior forward Richard Blanchard headlines the Lions' attack, which has produced 69 goals and the fifth-best scoring offense (3.45). Blanchard has 13 goals and 13 assists to his credit, and his 39 points rank 21st in the country. Additionally, Aaron Harris has tallied nine goals.

On defense, senior Andrew Mastovich was named the AMCC's Defender of the Year. He leads a group that ranks 18th with a 0.65 team GAA and posted 10 clean sheets during the season. In goal is another senior, Matt Warnaka. In 19 starts, he allowed 13 goals, posted a 0.71 GAA and earned a .755 save percentage.

The winner of this match will move on to play the winner of the Hanover College vs. University of Rochester match on Sunday at 1 p.m.
