NCAA Tournament Bracket     |    Messiah's Tournament Host Site

GAMBIER -- The Kenyon College men's soccer team, coming off a 1-0 loss to Denison University in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament championship, takes on The Catholic University of America in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The match-up between the Lords and Cardinals kicks off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Messiah University.

This is the second all-time matchup between Catholic and Kenyon. The Lords defeated the Cardinals 3-0 in a 2016 non-conference matchup in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Kenyon (15-2-1) was one of 21 at-large teams that earned a berth into the tournament. Catholic (11-6-2), which won the Landmark Conference Championship Tournament with a 2-0 win over Drew, was one of 43 teams to collect an automatic bid in the 64-team bracket.

Kenyon enters its eighth straight and 17th overall NCAA Tournament. Prior to the NCAC Tournament championship, the Lords ranked No. 10 and No. 14 in two different national polls. The Lords are averaging 3.11 goals and 21.8 shots per game. They feature a balanced offensive attack led by Sebastian Gaese's 10 goals and three assists. Throughout the season, 16 different Lords found the back of the net, with 12 of those players scoring more than once. In goal for Kenyon, Jack Pedreschi enters the match allowing a conference-low five goals in almost 1,085 minutes of game time. The first-year goalkeeper led the NCAC in goals-against average and ranked top three with a .808 save percentage.

Catholic makes its sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning the Landmark Conference. The Cardinals, allowing 1.26 goals per game, register 15.8 shots while scoring 2.00 goals each time they take the pitch. Leading the way for Catholic, Darius Siahpoosh netted 10 scores this season while assisting on three others. Catholic has 17 different goal scorers this year, but only five have found the back of the net more than once. Austin Coron controls the goal line for the Cardinals, allowing 15 goals in his 1,297 minutes of play. The junior goalkeeper holds a 1.04 goals against average and a .758 save percentage.

The winner of Saturday's game advances to the second round, where they will meet the winner of Messiah University and Mount Aloysius on Sunday at 3 p.m.
