Metzmaier named to NFHCA Senior Team

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Kenyon College senior Sarah Metzmaier's name was announced Monday during the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's (NFHCA) release of the 60-member 2021 NFHCA Division III Senior Team.

All six NCAA Division III regions were represented on the list of 2021 honorees. Metzmaier was one of just four honorees from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The selected student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coach and were chosen based on their career accomplishments.

Metzmaier played in 18 games this past season. She scored 12 goals, had three assists and helped steer the the Ladies to a 13-5 overall record, a 7-1 NCAC mark and a regular-season conference crown. Her goal total was tied for first among all conference players and her point total (27) was tied for second.

Those 2021 stats finalized Metzmaier's career number at 35 goals, 7 assists and 77 points. Despite playing just two full seasons, both Metzmaier's goal total and her point total rank sixth best in program history. She missed eight games due to injury her first-year and saw her junior year wiped away by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Senior Team honor is added to a long list of accolades for Metzmaier, who is a two-time All-NCAC first team selection, as well as the 2019 NCAC Offensive Player of the Year. In 2019, she was also named a NFHCA All-Region first-team pick and a second-team NFHCA All-American.
