Kenyon gains NCAC points in day-one distance races

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- At the conclusion of the first day of the two-day North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship, the Kenyon College Owls collected a couple points in distance events, but sit in eighth place in the team standings.

Around the oval, the Owls got one point from junior Keegan Minahan, who placed eighth in the 5,000-meter with a time of 15:26.51, which was his collegiate-best.

In the meet's last race of the day, the distance medley relay, the Owls recorded another eighth-place finish. The quartet of Peter Bernhardt, Collin Witt, Dylan Sibbitt, and Owen Rodstrom finished the race in 10:43.39 and earned one more Kenyon team point.

Earlier in the day, a couple of field events were held, but the Owls were unable to gain any other points. First-year Samuel Eluemunoh came closest, placing ninth in the shot put. His best throw measured 43-5 ¼ (13.24 meters), which was his personal collegiate-best.

The Championship resumes tomorrow with the majority of the Championship events on the schedule. Field events will start at 10:00 a.m. and running events will kick off at 2:15 p.m.
