DELAWARE, Ohio -- Saturday at the All-Ohio Championship, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University, the Kenyon College women's track and field team totaled up 29 points and finished 10th in the final team standings.
A good chunk of the Owls' points were gained in the 800-meter race. In that event, first-year Anna Brown placed third with a time of 2:20.80, while sophomore Logan Vidal placed fourth in 2:23.28. Both of those times were collegiate-bests and, together, netted Kenyon 11 points. In the same race, Lorien Kauffman placed 10th (2:26.12), Denna Medrano was 19th (2:34.43), and Jada Swearingen finished 22nd (2:38.92).
Senior Erika Conant also played a large role in adding points to the Kenyon total. She collected five team points for placing fourth in the long jump and then tacked on three more points for her sixth-place showing in the triple jump. Conant's best in the long jump was 16-2½ (4.94 meters) and her best in the triple jump was 33-9½ (10.30 meters).Â
The Owls' other 10 team points came from a pair of fourth-place finishes from junior Maya Virdell and sophomore Ellianne Retzlaff. Virdell hit that placement by finishing the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.12. Later, Retzlaff finished off the 5,000-meter run in 19:49.86.
Kenyon had plenty of other athletes compete, but not factor into the scoring. Grace Neuger ran with Virdell in the 400-meter hurdles and placed 20th (1:17.87). She also ran in the 100-meter hurdles and placed 12th (16.44).Â
In the 100-meter dash, Talulla Sheridan was 12th (13.48) and Alina Secrest was 19th (13.92). That same duo, along with Jean Cook, ran in the 200-meter dash. Sheridan finished 14th (27.47), Cook took 17th place (27.87), and Secrest was 22nd (28.65).
Eras Yager recorded a 17th-place finish in the shot put (33-4) and
Isabel Prosnitz took 15th place in the 1,500-meter run (5:32.33).
Case Western Reserve University ended up winning the Championship with 111 team points. Host Ohio Wesleyan was second with 109 points, and Denison University was third with 104.5 points.
