O’Neil obtains another IWLCA All-America award

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released Wednesday the names of the 57 student-athletes who were selected for one of the organization's 2023 NCAA Division III All-American teams. Caroline O'Neil, a recent Kenyon College graduate, made the list for the second consecutive season.

The IWLCA honorees were divided into three teams and O'Neil, a senior attack this past season, was selected as part of the 18-player third team. That is the same position she earned at the conclusion of the 2022 season and it makes her one of just three in Kenyon women's lacrosse history to earn multiple All-America awards.

Throughout the 2023 campaign, O'Neil led all Kenyon players with 80 points. That number was tallied on a team-high 60 goals and 20 assists. O'Neil's 80 points and 60 goals were also tops among all players in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and went down in the Kenyon record book as top-10 single-season marks. Additionally, her 2023 stat line included 22 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers, and five draw controls.

At the end of the season, O'Neil was named an All-NCAC first-team honoree, as well as the NCAC's Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. In IWLCA postseason voting, she gained her second straight spot among the All-Region first-team selections.

O'Neil, who played just two full seasons of collegiate lacrosse due the COVID-influenced years of 2020 and 2021, logged 45 career starts that included 177 career points on 130 goals and 47 assists. Her point total and goal total rank 11th best in the Kenyon career record book.

During the 2023 schedule, O'Neil helped the Owls produce a program-best 18-2 record, which included a program-record winning streak of 17 games. The Owls won the NCAC regular-season title and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament. They made it to the third-round of national competition before bowing out with a loss to No. 18-ranked Pomona-Pitzer.
