Owls launch 2024-25 campaign at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- For the sixth straight full season, the Kenyon College men's track and field team opened its season at Wittenberg University. In Saturday's unscored Tiger Opener, the Owls kicked off the 2024-25 campaign with four individual top-10 finishes.

Junior Josh Greville highlighted the Kenyon results, turning in two of the team's top-10 finishes. Early in the meet, Greville whipped through the 60-meter hurdles in 9.00 seconds to take seventh place. That time was just a tick slower than his preliminary heat time of 8.99, which was a personal collegiate best.

In field events, Greville had Kenyon's top showing of the day, a third-place finish in the triple jump. His best leap measured 40-8 ¼ (12.40 meters). In the same event. Kenyon first-year JT Casarico placed fifth with an effort that spanned 38-5 (11.71 meters).

Both Greville and Casarico added one more notable performance for the Owls. In the long jump, Casarico claimed a 12th-place finish, jumping 16-9 ¾ (5.12 meters). Back on the track, Greville completed the 200-meter dash in 23.28 for a 13th-place finish. He followed up on first-year Kudzaishe Mhere's run. Mhere placed ninth, crossing the line in 23.13.

In throws, first-year Graham Yeager was Kenyon's top performer. He placed 15th in the weight throw with a heave that traveled 36-3 ½ (11.06 meters). Yeager also finished 17th in the shot put, launching the pellet 32-8 ½ (9.97 meters).

While the Tiger Opener provided a start for a handful of Kenyon athletes, the bulk of the team's roster will jump into action on January 18, when the Owls are scheduled to compete in The College of Wooster Invitational.
