Owls kick off season at Denison Invitational

Box Score GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Kenyon College men's tennis team got its season started over the weekend, playing in the Denison University Invitational, a two-day event that featured multiple teams ranked in the Top-25.

The top-notch competition gave the Owls a good test, as they came away with a team record of 11-15 in singles play, while struggling through a 4-11 mark in doubles play.

In singles, Kenyon's youngsters had the most success. First-year Juozas Cioladis put together a perfect 3-0 record and his classmate Rohan Sriram did exactly the same. Sophomore Jay Dixit also posted a winning record, getting through play with a personal record of 2-1 mark.

Sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez and seniors Eric Zhang and Rishil Kondapaneni accounted for the other Kenyon singles wins, as they each posted a 1-2 record.

The Owls didn't fare very well in doubles play, winning four of 15 matches. The team's most successful pairing was senior Christophe Leblanc and first-year Rowan Sriram, who posted a 2-1 mark in three matches. Kenoyn had two doubles teams post a 1-2 record. Those two were Dixit and Gonzalez, and Cioladis and Joshua Finkle.

The team now has nearly two weeks off before resuming competition on September 20 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Championship, which will be held at Washington University in Saint Louis. Those players not making the trip will stay home to play in the Kenyon Invitational, a two-day event starting September 21.
