Pringle picked as Owls assistant volleyball coach

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College volleyball team welcomed a new member to the coaching staff as Head Coach Madison Schweitzer recently announced that Cal Pringle was picked as the program's assistant coach. Pringle started their role shortly after the calendar flipped to 2025 as the team heads into its offseason.

Before coming to Gambier, Pringle worked at Earlham College, another NCAA Division III institution, for the better part of four years. Their stretch with the women's volleyball program began in 2021 as a volunteer assistant coach. Pringle's role progressed to a graduate assistant coach position before adding technical coordinator duties, and they were named as the Quakers' assistant coach in May 2024.

While at Earlham, Pringle's roles included recruiting and retaining student-athletes, developing and building program culture, using technological tools for program organization, implementing effective strategic game plans, and teaching skills with evidence-based methods.

Prior to entering the collegiate coaching realm, Pringle coached three years at the youth level with time as the head women's volleyball coach for the Chinese Youth Club in Rockville, Maryland, and as the head junior varsity coach at Douglas Southall Freeman High School in Richmond, Virginia.

On the court, Pringle played and was a player-coach for a college club at the University of Richmond, where they graduated with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, political science, economics, and law. Pringle also played, coached, and advised a college club at Earlham, where they obtained a master's of divinity/ministry.
