Granetzke’s game-winner leads to NCAC weekly award

CLEVELAND – Senior Julianna Granetzke played the hero for the Kenyon College women's team this past weekend, and on Tuesday, the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) recognized her as the Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week.

In the Owls' conference opener against the College of Wooster, Granetzke netted the game's only goal, securing a 1-0 victory on Mavec field. The breakthrough came just two minutes into the second half when she raced onto a lobbed pass from Brooke Heis and headed it over the onrushing goalkeeper. The ball clipped the right post and crossed the line at the 47:34 mark.

The goal was Granetzke's second of the season and helped Kenyon improve to 7-1-3 overall and 1-0-0 in NCAC play. She and the Owls will look to keep their momentum going when they travel to DePauw University on Saturday, October 11, for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
