SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The Kenyon College men's indoor track and field team competed in Wittenberg University's annual Steemer Showcase on Saturday. The Owls registered results in nine of the meet's 17 events and combined to wrack up four season-best showings.
On the track, Kenyon got its best finish in the 3,000-meter run, where Charlie Blackmer raced to a 13th-place finish. The first-year stopped the clock at 8:47.00, the best mark amongst four Owls finishers in the event. The other three Owls finished within seven places of one another as Peter Bernhardt (9:00.51), Colt Murphy (9:08.73), and Owen Rodstrom (9:13.31) placed 18th, 23rd, and 25th, respectively. Rodstrom's time was a career-best in the event.
In field events, the Owls compiled three top-15 finishes. Richard Grooms finished 10th in the triple jump with an 11.71-meter (38-5) leap, a season-best mark for the first-year. In the long jump, Josh Greville and Ezekiel Kiwanuka finished 13th and 15th, respectively. Greville landed 5.99 meters (19-8) out, while Kiwanuka came in just behind that at 5.96 meters (19-4 ¾).
Back on the track, both Dylan Ryznar (41st, 2:03.24) and Jackson Adams (46th, 2:04.12) posted season-best times in the 800-meter run.
Up next, the Owls will take the short trip to Granville, Ohio, to compete in Denison University's Bob Shannon Invitational on Saturday, February 8.
