Owls take eighth at Tiger Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. – For the second time in as many weeks, the Kenyon College men's golf team carded a top-ten finish in a tournament littered with nationally ranked opponents, securing themselves as one of the top teams in the nation.

The Owls finished tied for eighth out of 20 teams at the Tiger Invitational, scoring nineteen-over par after two rounds at Forest Creek Golf Club wrapping up on Monday afternoon.

Junior Will Hulsey headlined Kenyon's lineup for the tournament, shooting one over par and taking T-17 on the individual leaderboard of 100 golfers. Hulsey debuted in the red figures for round one, making two birdies, one bogey, and pars for the remaining 15 holes on his 71 (-1) day. He came back on Monday with a two-over 74 with two birdies and four bogeys. For the week, he ranked first in par three scoring (2.75) and fourth in pars (27).

Next up for the Owls was Adrian Jordan, who bounced back this week with a four-over par finish. In Sunday's first round, he shot a 75 (+3) and came back with a 73 (+1) in round two, making three birdies for the tournament and finishing T-29.

Jonathan Oakes finished T-46 on the individual leaderboard with a +7 finish, carding a 76 (+4) after round one and making four birdies in the second round to finish with a 75 (+3).

Three strokes behind Oakes was Armand Ouellette, who made three birdies in his first round, finishing with a 79 (+7). He had a much less colorful scorecard on day two, making one birdie and four bogeys to secure a 75 (+3) and T-61 in the tournament at 10-over par.

Jaiden Koonar made three birdies in his opening round of 76 (+4), but came back with an 81 on Monday's round to put him at +13 for the tournament and T-75 overall.

As a team, Kenyon ranked first in par three scoring (3.00) and tied for fifth in pars (110) in the top ten performance.

The Owls will hit the course again on Friday, March 21 in Jekyll Island, Georgia for the two-round Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational at the Pine Lakes Course.
