Yeager leads strong first-year showing at Emory

ATLANTA -- After posting multiple top-20 individual finishes yesterday, the Kenyon College men's track and field team added a few more on Saturday, the final day of the unscored Emory University Spring Break Classic.

The Owls' top finish Saturday came from first-year Graham Yeager. He ended up with an 11th-place result in a field of 85 discus throwers. Yeager's best attempt of the day was his first. His toss measured 136-2 (41.50 meters), which came up just a foot-and-a-half shy of making it into the finals.

On the track, it was another first-year that led the way for the Owls. Jackson Adams logged a 13th-place showing in the 1,500-meter open, a race he finished in 4:14.65. That result came in a field of 55 runners.

Just missing a top-20 finish was Charlie Blackmer, another Kenyon first-year. He ended up in 21st place during the running of the 800-meter. He closed out that race with a time of 1:58.13. In that same race, senior William Wilson finished 32nd with a time of 2:00.26 and first-year Dylan Ryznar placed 38th in 2:00.66.

Other notable efforts from the Owls came from Josh Greville and Ezekiel Kiwanuka, who placed 33rd and 37th, respectively, in the long jump. Greville's best jump was 20-4 ½ (6.21 meters), while Kiwanuka covered 20-2 ½ (6.16 meters). Greville's mark was a personal record, while Kiwanuka missed his best by just four inches.

The Owls will be much closer to home next week, as their next competition is lined up for Saturday in Denison University's Lid-Lifter meet.
