Two Owls compete at Tufts National Qualifier

BOSTON -- Kenyon College senior Paula Soric and junior Anna Brown competed Saturday in the Tufts University National Qualifying meet for entry into the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship. Soric gave it a go in the triple jump, while Brown ran the 800-meter race.

Soric, Kenyon's record holder in the triple jump, wound up finishing in fifth place with a best measurement of 37-2 ½ (11.34 meters). Unfortunately, that mark fell short of her season best, which was 37-3 ¼ (11.36 meters) set last week at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship. Her top mark in the event ranks as the 46th best among all NCAA Division III jumpers.

The same situation held true for Brown, who completed the 800 in 2:18.19 for an 11th-place finish. She came close, but was unable to top her season best of 2:17.99 (converted from 2:16.42), which she set early in the season at Wittenberg University's Steemer Showcase.

Those results bring a conclusion to Kenyon's 2024-25 indoor track and field season. The outdoor campaign will kick off March 21 at Emory University's Spring Break Classic.
