Kenyon takes two, moves record to 5-0

GAMBIER, Ohio – With unblemished 7-0 Saturday dual-match wins over the Rhodes College Lynx and the Otterbein University Cardinals, the No. 13-ranked Kenyon College men's tennis team ran its season record to 5-0.

Starting off on the right note, the duo of Maximo Llamas Castellanos and Juozas Cioladis secured the first point of the day at No. 2 doubles with a 6-4 victory, improving to 8-0 overall as a tandem this season. Moments later, Jay Kedar Dixit and Eliezer Gonzalez followed suit at No. 3 doubles, finishing strong with a 6-2 decision to earn their first win together this year.

Wrapping up doubles play at the top flight, Paulo Pocasangre Kreling and Alejandro Gonzalez controlled the No. 1 matchup from the outset. Despite the competitive scoreline, the Owls maintained the upper hand throughout and closed out a 6-4 win to complete the sweep and give Kenyon a 3-0 advantage heading into singles.


Turning to singles play, Llamas Castellanos wasted no time extending the Owls' lead, earning a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Rhodes's Christian Mainella at No. 2. The win pushed Llamas Castellanos to 8-3 on the season.


Alejandro Gonzalez followed at the top flight, securing a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles to improve to 6-1 overall. Cioladis delivered the third singles point of the afternoon, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 and evening his record at 4-4.


At No. 3, Pocasangre Kreling continued the momentum with a 6-3, 6-1 finish, moving to 5-4 on the year. 


The Owls then completed the sweep behind dominant performances from Rohan Sriram and Kedar Dixit. Sriram closed out his No. 6 match by a score of 6-2, 6-0 to improve to 5-4 this season, while Dixit secured a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5, continuing his strong start to the spring with an 8-1 overall record.


Kicking things off in the afternoon matchup versus Otterbein was Kedar Dixit and Eliezer Gonzalez, who finished their No. 2 doubles match in about 22 minutes with a scoreline of 6-0. Sree Kondaveeti and Stylianos Papamichael followed seconds later at No. 3 doubles with a tally of 6-1, their first appearance as a duo this season.  Llamas Castellanos and Cioladis wrapped things up in doubles with a calm 6-0 victory, pushing them to 9-0 on the season.


The wins kept coming in singles play, as the Owls wrapped up a long day. The team shuffled its lineup a bit, but Llamas Castellanos, Cioladis, and Kedar Dixit all posted their second singles match wins. Papamichael, Eliezer Gonzalez, and Kondaveeti rounded out the singles sweep.
