Owls sink Shoremen as Florida slate rolls on

ORLANDO, Fla. – After playing three matches in consecutive days, the Kenyon College men's tennis team had two days off before taking on Washington College (Md.) on Monday afternoon from Orlando.

The Owls looked sharp from the opening point, controlling all matches en route to a 7-0 victory over the Shoremen.

Kenyon got the party started in doubles, where the team turned in 6-0, 6-1, and 6-2 winners. Rohan Sriram and Stylianos Papamichael teamed up for the shutout victory in the third flight, while Juozas Cioladis and Maximo Llamas Castellanos finished first for the 6-1 triumph in the second flight. Finishing in 29 minutes, the first flight pair of Paulo Pocasangre Kreling and Alejandro Gonzalez gave their team the early edge.

In singles, Llamas Castellanos finished first in the first flight, charging to 6-1 victories in back to back sets. Cioladis turned in another win in just over an hour in the second flight, capturing a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Shortly after, Eliezer Gonzalez locked up the win for the Owls in 6-1, 6-2 fashion in the sixth flight.

The fifth flight finished next for the Owls, as Jay Kedar Dixit battled to a 6-4 win in the first set before cruising to a 6-0 victory in the second. Pocasangre Kreling had two close sets, but came away a 6-2, 6-4 winner in the second flight. Both of Sree Kondaveeti's sets in the fourth flight went to a tiebreaker, but both times he came away with a 7-5 win to secure the sweep.

Kenyon's record improves to 11-1. The Owls will be back on the courts Thursday, March 12 for a doubleheader to close the Florida swing, getting underway at 12:30 p.m. against Vassar College.
