NCAC coaches pick Owls to finish fourth

CLEVELAND -- Coaches cast their ballots earlier this week and the North Coast Athletic Conference released Thursday its 2025 preseason poll for field hockey. Within the 10-team standings, the Kenyon College Owls were predicted to finish fourth.

That fourth-place position was up one spot from the team's fifth-place finish one season ago. The 2024 Owls were 10-6 overall and 6-4 in the conference, just missing the final spot in the conference's four-team postseason tournament.

The top two spots in the 2024 final standings, as well as the top two spots in the 2025 preseason poll, went to Ohio Wesleyan University and Denison University, respectively. Ohio Wesleyan topped the poll with five first-place votes and 94 total points, while Denison collected four first-place votes and 93 poll points.

Wittenberg University, which finished third last season, dropped to fifth in the preseason poll. That slide allowed room for DePauw University to take sole possession of third place in the poll and made way for Kenyon to claim fourth place. DePauw tallied 79 total points, Kenyon logged 69, and Wittenberg earned 62 points to round out the top half of the poll.

Head coach Morgan Brozena, now in her fifth season at Kenyon, will lead her team into the 2025 season, which gets underway Saturday, August 30 with a road game at SUNY Geneseo.
