The 1989 arrival of Michael Donovan set the stage for what would be the most prolific era in Kenyon men's soccer. Over his four seasons of play, the Lords piled up an impressive 62-11-3 combined record. They won their first two conference championships and made their first three of eight consecutive appearances in the NCAA tournament. Donovan graduated as the program's career record-holder for points (167), goals (69), and assists (32). He was a two-time All-American (1991, 92) and was a four-time All-NCAC selection, including three first-team honors. He was twice voted the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year and was selected to the NCAC's prestigious Tenth Anniversary team.
