A defensive stalwart for the Ladies during the mid-1990s, Samie Kim served as the second All-American in Ladies field hockey history and the first position player to earn the honor. In both her junior and senior seasons, Kim was named team Most Valuable Player, All-NCAC, All-Region, and All-America. At the conclusion of the 1995 season, she was voted the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year.
