Rixey was the first Kenyon basketball player to break the 1,000-point milestone. He scored a total of 1,326 points in his career and averaged 21.75 points per game. He ranked second in the nation with an average of 25.0 points per game his senior season. He was a three-year member of the All-Ohio Athletic Conference team and two-year All-Ohio honoree. Although his forte was basketball, Rixey earned 11 varsity letters in five different sports.
