Hall of Fame
Merrill Robinson entered the KAA Hall of Fame as a pioneer of the Ladies cross country program. The only woman on campus running cross country in the fall of 1978, Robinson trained and raced with the men’s team as a sophomore. In her junior year, she recruited a couple other women to the roster and went on to qualify for the 1979 national championship. While still running with the men as a senior, Robinson co-captained the 1980 team and strengthened the case for a separate varsity squad by bringing more women into the fold. One year later, the Ladies split away from the men and ran their first official varsity season.
