Kenyon's finest tennis player, Don McNeill was the nation's number-one ranked player in 1940, the same year he brought the College its first national individual title. The highlight of McNeill's career was beating Bobby Riggs in the finals of the 1940 US Open. McNeill's other accomplishments include a US Open doubles championship, winning the French Open singles and doubles titles, and the US Clay Court championship.
