Hall of Fame
A part of four national championship swimming and diving teams, David Phillips collected four individual and one relay NCAA titles in distance events. In 1994, his first year at Kenyon, Phillips won the national title in the 1,650-yard freestyle. As a sophomore, he returned to the national stage to capture the 500-yard freestyle title and the 800-yard freestyle relay title. Then, as a senior in 1997, he claimed NCAA titles in both the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyles. He was a 14-time All-American and a four-time conference champion in distance events. He was 1997 team captain and, that same year, winner of the program's Stephen E. Bennett Memorial Award.
